About Jennifer's Poetry
I grew up in Gort, Co Galway, a small town in the west of Ireland, which has strong associations with Lady Gregory (one of the co-founders of the Abbey Theatre). The town is near Thoor Ballylee, which was the round tower residence of one of my favourite poets, William Butler Yeats.
I was a member of a poetry group in Sydney, was a regular at the Canberra Closet Poets group, and am a founding member of the Adelaide Closet Poets group.
His Excellency, Mr Declan Kelly, Ambassador of Ireland to Australia, launched my first collection of poetry, Exposure, on Saturday 24 May 2003.
Published by independent Canberra publisher Ginninderra Press, Exposure is an eclectic mix of personal moments described with a simple economy of words. (Exposure is also available from Booktopia here.)
Four of the poems included in Exposure were also featured in the Canberra Closet Poets' anthology, Wordswork, published by Ginninderra Press in 2002.
